This is a response to the various posts about what some have called a shudder or rattle noise on acceleration that sometimes trips an error code on the controller. I've posted some videos on the attempts I've made to resolve the issue on a 2010 EV. I pulled my motor & transaxle assembly & had the motor checked by M&M Forklift in St. Louis, MO. They have a lot of experience with 48V motors for forklifts mainly, but were able to test run this motor & determine there was no performance issue with it.
I disassembled the transaxle & have a few videos on what it looks like inside. I thought the carrier bearings were loose, but that wasn't the case & in fact the insides look like new at 220 hours. I added an extra battery & raised the pack voltage which turned out to produce a negative result. Low amp hours on the pack could be an issue or maybe the controller is problematic, but I can't determine if either are a problem. EV works fine except you have to feather the throttle when it makes the noise. Using it in HIGH range helps some if you can use HIGH. Here's the videos - http://bransonoffgrid.com
