I just got my 2017 EV delivered today. I read through the manual and it specifically says, more than once, that the EV should always be plugged in when not in use, that it switched to a trickle charge when fully charged. It also says that plugging it in doesn't make the cycle "reset" and that you want to get the battery through about 125 cycles before it will work at it's optimal charge. I know this goes against what others have said here, but I figured I'd follow the manufacturer's instructions and keep it plugged in.
Anyway when I plugged the battery tonight it showed 82% charge. I went out into the garage later this evening to check it, and the garage had a weird smell. I went over to the EV and I could hear a "bubbling" sound. The battery light was still flashing green. I unplugged the charger and it showed it was 100% charged. I thought that was weird that the light would still be flashing green at 100%. I thought it should be a steady green at full charge. I read several people talk about "boiling" the batteries, and I'm wondering if that's what was happening? And if so, what should I do?
