Battery Gamble

So...I just picked up a 2012 EV with 17.7 hours on it that looks brand new. Battery gauge showed full and it ran fine for a short run and on my trailer. My concern is that there was no water to be seen in any of the battery cells. It's at my dealer now getting the once over. I paid 5 grand and am hoping to avoid a new set of batteries. What do you think my chances are?
