F-N-R Switch issue

I just joined your club with a new to 2014 Ranger EV with about 57 hours. I have enjoyed reading your adaptations and solution.

Today I tried moving it around for the first time. It would not go into reverse. When I flipped it to "R" i got the red wrench sign. It would operate in "F" with no problem. I got out and pushed it backwards and then I got the "R" light to come on by just flipping it.
Is this a common issue?
Am I doing something wrong?
how bad is it to replace the FNR switch?
