Hello new friends, this is my first post here. I've read through pages and pages of excellent tips, shared experiences & knowledge, and tons of general good advice. I'm trying hard to put it all together so that when I pick up My 2016 EV, it's a good experience from the start. Probably my biggest question or concern is the huge volume of posts/replies I've read regarding changing charger algorithms. It seems to me that a brand-new 2016 shouldn't have any of those type of issues, or a need to change the algorithm, but maybe that's incredibly naive of me to think the manufacturer would have fixed this known issue long ago...so does a guy need to immediately change the algorithm on a brand new machine, or does this only apply to older models? I see posts saying change it to 11, 71, 72, etc. the three different dealers I've spoken to have zero idea what I'm talking about and they look at me like I have a tail... I feel like someone, perhaps many of you can straighten me out on this one.
After that, I've been reading about battery tray mods (since I don't own one yet, not even sure what this means...do they have a bad habit of corroding?)
Watering systems...I owned an electric golf cart, it has 6 batteries in it, not too big of a deal to pop the 12 caps off 6 batteries every so often, may be worth the investment though with more/difficult to reach batt's...what say you all?
I've read a fair amount about a gadget called a "desulfator" what the heck is that, and do I need one?
I'm also installing a winch with aux battery...I remember reading something about splicing something together so that battery charges simul...ahhh crud, I can't remember exactly, but something...
One last query for now...Super Daves bushings...it's critical that the cart is quiet and squeak-free for my application...do I need to have the dealer replace bushings before I take delivery? Can I keep them quiet with grease, are there grease zerks where these things get squeaky?
So, maybe it will help to explain that the vehicle will be kept at our farm a fuzz over 2 hours from our home. It will be used primarily as transportation to and from the cabin to the tree stand, or the turkey blind. I'm outfitting it with Polaris's fancy enclosed cab with pop up glass windshield and the steel roof. My wife is my best bow hunting partner, so I spoil her and try to keep her comfortable...she will ride the cart to her tree...I will walk! Ha! It will (hopefully) be used to haul giant Deer out of the woods. Occasionally it will be used to tour around the property, and around a section or two in the area. Usually 2 passengers, but sometimes our sons (both grown) will be riding along in the back. Since the machine is over 2 hrs away, I cannot babysit a charger/chargers. I really need to be able to rely on a charger that will do it's job and not fry my batteries while I'm away for a week or a month...is this possible? Need recommendations on good solid, quiet bow holders, but it will have rear glass on it too, so I guess a rear roll bar mount is out.
Holy smokes...that's a lot of questions and probably way more info than you needed or cared for. I'm just hoping that I'm making the right decision with this machine...I've had lots of gas machines...but trying to get away from the stinky & loud.
Thanks for indulging me...you guys have a great forum here!
